The pattern includes instructions for matching hat, cowl and fingerless mittens with a patchwork pattern knit in the round using the stranded (fair isle) technique. The samples were made with one main colour for the ribs and 8 contrast colours of Miniballs. The full set requires approximately 250m of the main colour and 100m of each of the contrasts. The cowl uses about half of this total and the hat and mittens combined use the other half. The Miniballs are 4ply yarn and they are knit on 3mm needles for the ribbing and 3.25mm for the colourwork sections.
